Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Purpose
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax incentive for businesses to hire certain candidates with barriers. This gives you the opportunity to expand the diversity of your workforce and the number of new candidates to consider for employment. Businesses can get tax breaks for hiring from these target groups:
- Qualified veterans
- Justice-involved candidates
- Persons with disabilities
- Recipients of long-term unemployment (27 weeks)
- Recipients of public benefits
All applicants must be submitted within 28 days of the employee's start date. Businesses will apply online using your Secure Access Washington (SAW) account. Don't have a SAW account? Connect with a consultant from Talent Solutions by WorkSource Spokane to assist with your account creation.
